Tape, Tubes & Transistors

Mix with the signal chain that powered Led Zeppelin

The Golden Sound of the 60s and Early 70s, from Console to Tape

This is as close as you can come to sitting in the studio with Eddie Kramer back in the 60s and early 70s, as he cut and mixed classic tracks from seminal artists like Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, and the Stones. The signal chain of Helios Console, Pye compressor, and 2-track tape worked magic that lives to this day.

Now you can travel back in time to Olympic Studios, and enjoy the warm, fat, analog character of those classic recordings. These artfully crafted plugins are a breath of fresh air in a digital world.

Kramer HLS Channel

The Helios console at London’s Olympic Studios was famous for fat bass, sweet saturation, and high-end presence. Working in close collaboration with legendary producer Eddie Kramer (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones), HLS Channel models the Helios down to the last detail.

Whether used on individual tracks, buses, or masters, HLS Channel captures the sparkling quality of the Helios’ world-class EQ, and the behavior, coloration, and drive of its unique preamps.

Kramer Master Tape

Early analog tape was the sound of rock’n’roll. Recording engineers pushed analog tape ever-further into distortion, creating a type of tape compression that made the music powerful and compelling. The tube electronics of that era also added warmth and character.

To this day, early 1/4" analog tape recorders are coveted—and extremely rare. Whether used on individual tracks or masters, these machines exemplify the sound of classic tracks, from Hendrix and Led Zeppelin onward. Now, Kramer Master Tape brings this sound to digital recording.

Kramer PIE Compressor

Based on pulse-width modulation (PWM) technology, the Pye compressor’s speed, transparency, and low distortion set it apart from other compressor types. Known especially as a bus compressor for drums, backing vocals, and masters, classic studio engineers admired the Pye’s dazzling character.

No one knows the Pye compressor better than legendary producer Eddie Kramer (Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones). Designed with Eddie himself, Kramer PIE captures what made the Pye truly special.
