Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter
In the 70s, the Aphex Aural Exciter had almost mythical status. It ‘excited’ tracks by restoring the highs lost through the recording and playback processes of the time, and was available only as an expensive rental item.
The Aphex Exciter’s secret for adding sheen, brightness and excitement was based on creating controlled 2nd-harmonic distortion. Now, Waves has captured the original unit’s elegant sound quality, enabling you to make tracks brighter without making them more trebly or forcing you to reach for an EQ.
API 2500
In studios around the world, the API 2500 has earned a reputation for always being able to deliver the right solution for virtually any compression need. Based on precise, accurate VCA-type technology, the API 2500 is all about choice—including compressor topologies, punch, and tone.
A modern classic, the API 2500 has now been discovered by a new generation of modern producers in hip hop, pop/R&B, dance, and rock, who treasure the punchy vibe that brings drums and grooves to life.
API 550
The API 550 introduced visionary EQ curves. Q varies with gain, so boosting adds a more focused musical quality—while reducing gain provides natural, subtle-to-steep tone shaping. Developed in close collaboration with API, the 550A/B are loving re-creations of these late-60s legends.
Expertly selected frequencies lift instruments up, or place them further back—just as easily as they can sweetly shape a mix’s contour. For individual tracks, buses, or full masters, the 550 defines musical transparency.
API 560
API 560’s proportional-Q filter topology is known for its smooth, forgiving sound. For mic overheads, pianos, guitars, and other complex sound sources that need clear, transparent, well-defined tone-shaping, the 560 makes EQing fast and easy.
Created in association with API, this high-end equalizer is all about using a traditional graphic interface to make broad equalization changes—all while sounding natural and musical.
AudioTrack
When working in your DAW, there’s no need to put together a basic channel strip from multiple plugins—AudioTrack has already done the work for you. Optimize tone with four bands of parametric EQ, banish noise with gating, and tame or boost peaks with compression/expansion.
Because of its low CPU power, AudioTrack can also save time: to have EQ and dynamics available as soon as you start a project, insert an instance in every channel of a basic song template.
Bass Rider
Bass is the foundation of most tracks. But mixing bass is a challenge, because low frequencies are hard to reproduce and hear. Heavy compression is a workaround, but it alters the attack, tone, and sustain. Automating levels manually can sound better, but it’s tedious and imprecise.
Bass Rider provides consistent bass levels throughout your track, by controlling the bass’s gain automatically to maintain a steady target level. And because there’s no dynamics processing, the sound quality remains pristine.
BB Tubes

BSS DPR-402
In the later eras of hardware, this processing powerhouse was huge for live sound, broadcast, and studios—thanks to VCA compression, peak limiting, de-essing, side-chaining, and 11 frequency-dependent responses. In the studio, it was known for its explosive compression sound on drums and drum machines.
The meticulous modeling truly captures the acclaimed sound, but this rejuvenated plugin also embellishes the original hardware with more features, added versatility, and extra ease of use.
