Scientists tell us that the oldest conclusive solar eclipse on record dates to around 1200 B.C.E., when scribes in China recorded eclipses on ox bones and tortoise shells. But it’s possible there’s an even earlier record in a group of spiral-shaped and circular petroglyphs discovered in Ireland that date back to 3340 B.C.E.
In this century, rather than ox bones or cave walls, Vanguard Audio has decided to celebrate the darkness by marking the 2024 total solar eclipse on our very own large diaphragm FET condenser microphones, the V4 gen2 and stereo V44S gen2. Each of these limited edition jewels will be finished in a lush, dense cosmos-black and sport a unique laser-engraved representation of the 2024 solar eclipse. The laser engraving is done in-house by our own certified laser artist.

We wanted to rethink the standard “spider-style” shockmount of old, and designed the VLSM with a few nifty features. First is the open front, which allows you to position the microphone as close to the source as necessary. Second, we install aerospace-grade suspension rings that won’t break, sag, crack, or stretch over time. This shockmount was designed to fit any microphone with M22x1 threading, so you also can use it with a number of microphones from other manufacturers.
When not in use, your V4 should be stored in its padded pinewood box with the included dessicant packet.
