Clip Launcher

Say hello to a new, inspiring workflow. Whether you’re looking to break out of a creative rut, embark on a live performance or quickly sketch out ideas the new clip launcher has you covered. Simply drag MIDI, Step or Audio clips into the grid or choose to record directly into a slot while getting visual input feedback in the clip.

Sequence actions can be used to quickly build complex arrangements algorithmically. Choose from the list of actions, stack them and adjust the probability of each for human-like variation or wild, unpredictable sequences.

Sometimes you'll want to capture these rich sonic performances and happy accidents; enter Performance Recording. Performance Recording prints the performance to the arranger window providing the opportunity to edit, mix and further arrange your ideas later on.

Controller Support

Waveform 13 supports a range of popular launchpad style controllers right out of the box. Zero configuration is required - simply plug in and enjoy pre-mapped pads, pots and buttons. Javascript API has been added for additional controller configuration plus support for Ableton Link. Supported controllers:

Wavetable Synth

Wavetable is a powerful synthesizer with flexible modulation and a huge sound! It features two wavetable oscillators, plus a sub and noise oscillator. There are 150 wavetables included, plus you can create your very own by simply dragging and dropping a .wav file onto an oscillator. Serum format wavetables are also supported.

The flexible dual filter module can be set in either serial or parallel configuration and clicking the FX button toggles the panel to reveal 5 powerful effects which can be dragged and positioned as you please. You’ll find: Trance Gate, Chorus, Distortion (10 types), Reverb (plat and natural), EQ, Limiter and a Filter.

The modulation sources include: 4 LFOs, 3 envelopes, 4 macros, MPE pressure timbre and bend, MIDI note number, Velocity, MIDI pitch, mod wheel and all the MIDI controllers. Simply drag and drop a modulation source to a parameter and its assigned! You can choose to draw your own LFO shapes or choose from a list of carefully crafted and highly useful shapes.

Refined UI

Waveform 13 further refines its look and feel with a fresh palette of colors, a selection of new schemes to choose from, plus the option of creating and saving your OWN schemes.

Managing automation is made much easier with new, vibrant, color-matched lanes and general UI responsiveness has been optimized, especially within larger projects.

Features

Video

Video clips can now be dragged and dropped directly into an Edit, either from the Waveform browser or from any folder on your hard drive. In 13 you're no longer limited to working with a single video clip. You can drag, arrange and work with multiple clips per edit and the scalable thumbnailed clips make it easy to identify scenes at a glance. Easily extract audio from the video clip and utilize a multitude of exporting options designed to accelerate your tasks.

Smart DJ Tools

If you're familiar with DJ software you'll be used to seeing coloured waveforms. In 13 you can toggle this view on or off with the click of a button. When clips are dragged into an edit they are automatically tempo synced, providing seamless playback at the project tempo. This is perfect if you're creating DJ edits or remixes. The addition of multipole DJ oriented FX and tools have been added to allow you to explore non performance mixing, mashups and remixes.

Split to Stems

And to take this DJ/Remix workflow a step further we've added Stem Separation. Simply right-click on an audio clip and select Split to Stems. Here you can either split a stereo mix into 4 components or choose to extract specific elements like the vocal or just the drums. Working with stems provides the control and creative options you need when mixing or remixing.

Workflow Enhancements

The position of active loop points can now be moved backwards and forwards in time. Simply hold "shift" and drag one of the loop markers or hold "shift + cmd/ctrl" and drag the loop section in the timeline.

Brand New BassOSC Instrument

Create the perfect sub effortlessly with the brand new BassOSC synth. A minimal, yet carefully laid out UI allows for quick adjustments while a wave type and drive knob are on hand for character and grit.

15 Refreshed Audio Effects

Waveforms' entire collection of stock DSP plugins has been refreshed, bringing much-improved performance, functionality and visual appearance.

New Drum Grid Mode

Turbocharge your programming with a drum centric alternative to the Piano Roll. Mouse clicking to enter and reposition drum hits is now far quicker and more intuitive.

Advanced MIDI

Waveform 13 adds powerful new filters to its advanced MIDI editor, including Notes in Key, Notes in use and named notes - making composition and editing faster than ever.

MIDI Randomisation

In Waveform 13 velocity, pitch, note start and note length can all be randomised via dedicated popup windows. Simply choose between a more human or more random performance and then dial in the strength control to taste.

Probability Added to Step Clips

Breath new life into basic patterns by adding and adjusting probability per note. Simply raise or lower the probability of a note being triggered via a slider and witness ever-evolving loops unfold before your eyes.

MIDI Strum

Inject instant movement and realism with MIDI strum. Simply select chord(s) in the midi editor and simply command drag to create a strum performance.

Rewritten Audio Engine

Our developers have painstakingly and completely rewritten the audio engine resulting in greatly reduced CPU load, perfect PDC in all routing configurations and better support for modern machines with a higher number of CPU cores.

Arranger Track

Waveform Pro introduces the Arranger Track, a remarkably simple yet powerful tool for manipulating regions of your arrangement. Simply create an arrange clip in the arranger track to control the entire region of your arrangement. The arranger track has contemporary features such as magnetic movement, commonly found in video editors, that automatically open and close regions of the arrangement based on your selections. Experimenting with your arrangement and song structure has never been easier.

Quick Action Bar

The quick action bar is located just above the properties panel or transport bar and can be used to assign any shortcut action including custom macros. It’s quick and easy to add buttons… assign them actions… set names… colors… and then trigger them with one big, clearly labeled button. With the Quick Action Bar you can create multiple workflow templates and quickly switch between them with ease.

Plugin Sandboxing

3rd party plugins are the weak link for any digital audio workstation. Waveform Pro addresses this by implementing plugin sandboxing. Once activated your work environment is protected by keeping plugin crashes contained. Instead of the host closing, the plugin is simply deactivated.
