This S.L.P. Mod Bubinga “Artist Model” is a special collaboration with Philo Tsoungui of The Mars Volta. Philo studied classical percussion and has been active in a wide range of musical genres, from Rock to Jazz and Hip Hop. Based on the regular LBU127, this version features an EVANS Genera Dry batter head for a tight, controlled, and dryer sound, and finished in custom Electro Turquoise, perfectly complementing Philo’s unique blend of musical styles.

Bubinga, a hard wood native to Africa, is characterized by its dark and powerful sound with rich mid-low tones.

EVANS Genera Dry Snare Batter Head

The Genera Dry is a thicker single ply head with biult-in ring mute that retains the open sound of a single ply head with added tightness from the ring mute, perfectly complementing Bubinga's unique mid-low range.

Sound Arc Hoop (6 hole)

Sound Arc Hoops solidly control the moderate harmonics, which enhancing the thick attack of the Bubinga shell.

20 Strand Starclassic Carbon Steel Snare Wire

Starclassic snares offer several unique, highly useful features. When adding more tension to the wires, the strands press closer to the snare head. We've also redesigned the angle of the end plates and added thinner straps to obtain optimum response.
