The Original

Out of the box composer tools created for film scoring — a collection of orchestral ensembles featuring strings, brass, woodwind and percussion as well as loops, synths and atmospheres, all captured at AIR Studios, Lyndhurst Hall. This classic Spitfire library is full of character, providing users a cinematic orchestral palette for composers to sketch large, epic‑sounding, Hollywood‑style film scores.

Captured in 2011, this sample library was Spitfire’s maiden Albion product, which kick started the whole range of Albions, a selection of all-in-one products of cinematic inspiration. More from the Albions range.

Epic Cinematic Tools

The Orchestra included in this library features the finest orchestral session musicians recorded at AIR Studios, Lyndhurst Hall, London, captured through the finest vintage, valve, and ribbon mics to 2" tape. A collection of epic sounding cinematic orchestral samples recorded in sections; strings, brass and woodwind, captured as full ensembles, low and high.

Explore rich aggressive and lyrical strings, punchy, growling brass and some seriously malevolent woodwinds, all available via 4 professionally produced microphone signals C(lose), T(ree), A(mbient) and O(outrigger).

Write running lyrical lines with the true legato, available across choirs of the orchestra, or the "Ostinatum" engine which helps build exciting and unexpected arrangements to flowing top-lines and a huge bank of FX to provide some inspiring colours.

Darwin Percussion

Darwin Percussion is a thunderous collection of massive cinematic drums, ear piercing metal slams, sub sonic thuds, a cymbal ensemble and exciting mid and high range action sections. Available with 4 round robins, 4 dynamic layers and 3 mic positions.

Stephenson's Steam Band

Derived and warped entirely from our orchestral recordings, these "other-worldly" soundscapes have been made easier to mix into an orchestral sound-palette. Whilst being enormous in scale and interest, all pads and drones are harmonically monophonic for true musical integration into your cues.

AIR Studios

Legacy was recorded in the enchanting ambiance of Lyndhurst Hall, located within the esteemed AIR Studios. This magnificent recording space has been the creative haven for countless iconic film & TV scores, including Harry Potter, Stranger Things, Elvis, Gladiator and Interstellar. It has also set the stage for unforgettable soundtracks in popular computer games such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, God of War Ragnarök, and Spider-Man.

The overview panel

This is the main interface for melodic instruments. Its default view displays all available playing techniques, has a simple microphone mixer and includes the main feature controllers.

General controls panel

This view allows further in-depth control of the instrument, showing all available signals and feature controllers, as well as the ability to purge techniques from memory to reduce system usage.

The Ostinatum

In this view you can add notes to a pattern sequencer, select which key it triggers on and then play for instant Ostinato creation. It’s like an arpeggiator on a synthesiser.
