Dark, progressive orchestral articulations
Powered by our bespoke eDNA synth engine, Albion IV Uist is made up of Albion's large cinematic orchestral ensembles, this time playing a staggering 800 unique and extraordinary atonal, aleatoric articulations orchestrated by Ben Foskett, presented alongside an epic collection of 200 warped orchestral hybrids and textures, particularly suited to thrillers. Recorded at The Hall at AIR Studios — home to the recordings of the world's biggest blockbuster film scores —this is the most progressive chapter in our bestselling Albion range: an orchestral series that gives you everything you need to make modern film music.
Albion IV Uist
The fourth chapter in our Albion range — a series of instruments providing you with all you need to write epic sounding, widescreen orchestral music, straight out of the box — Albion IV is by far our darkest and possibly most ambitious project yet. With six months spent on preparation alone, an entire week of 12 hour days in the Hall at AIR Studios, and an entire six months of post production, this library takes our Albion series to the next level.
Albion IV contains over 60 of the finest orchestral session musicians playing the finest, rarest instruments: Strings High, Strings Low, Winds High, Winds Low, Brass High and Brass Low, this time all playing expertly crafted progressive techniques, with everything arranged to interlock between sections. Recorded to 2" tape via the finest vintage valve and ribbon mics (Close, Tree, Ambient, Outrigger) in the Hall at AIR Studios, London, Albion IV is designed to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the Albion range and our Symphony Orchestra. We are the only tape based orchestral sample library makers in the world, giving you the ultimate richness of sound missing in so many sample libraries.
Progressive techniques & warped sounds
An enormous but carefully crafted selection of extraordinary playable articulations, long evolutions, motions, textures, hits, effects, clusters, stabs, stings, orchestrated by Ben Foskett, harnessing his experience creating contemporary concert music to curate an extraordinary set of articulations — from whispered, delicate notes, to aleatoric, atonal textures. A key feature is the crossfading dynamic layering, providing a playable set of tools to fit in with your composition, without dictating your writing. The sheer number of articulations gives you access to samples otherwise impossible to present to directors and producers, a set of tools designed for adaptive computer games music, mystical fantasy horror movies, thrillers with an avant-garde edge.
To match the versatility of earlier volumes, we have also taken these unique recordings and warped them into a broad selection of cutting edge hybrid sounds. These range from organic orchestras to screaming synths and widescreen pads, Stephenson's Steam Band, presented in our highly intuitive and interactive eDNA engine.
Albion IV is named after the Scottish Isles of North & South Uist, reflecting the darkness and epic, dramatic nature of their landscape. Situated in still isolation while subject to tempestuous forces of nature and sudden, unexpected fury, they reside in a part of the world where great masses of land grow hulk-like in isolation out of an inky charcoal sea.
The overview panel
This is the main interface for melodic instruments. Its default view displays all available playing techniques, has a simple microphone mixer and includes the main feature controllers.
General controls panel
This view allows further in-depth control of the instrument, showing all available signals and feature controllers, as well as the ability to purge techniques from memory to reduce system usage.
eDNA engine
This interface houses our own sample-synthesiser engine. You can use it to combine two sounds and modulate between them with envelopes, filters and wobbles per sound, as well as a gate sequencer and a selection of go-to FX.
