OTTX is an advanced multiband dynamics processor by Rave Generation, inspired by the legendary OTT-style compression essential in modern electronic music. It delivers aggressive upward and downward compression across three bands with per-band Inflator-style waveshaping for harmonic richness.
Beyond classic OTT behavior, OTTX adds per-band threshold and ratio controls for fine-tuned dynamics shaping, a phase-aligned Mix knob for parallel compression, Smooth mode for mastering-friendly compression, and Smart Clip limiting to keep your output clean at 0dB. Equally at home on individual tracks, drum busses, or full mixes.

Per-Band Inflator Waveshaping
Each band features an independent Curve control inspired by the Sonnox/Oxford Inflator algorithm. This adds harmonic richness and perceived loudness without traditional clipping artifacts. Use subtle settings for warmth or push harder for aggressive saturation. Pro tip: Set all Curves to 100% and blend in with Depth and Mix for rich harmonic saturation.
Per-Band Threshold & Ratio Controls
Fine-tune the compression character of each band independently. Threshold controls set where compression kicks in, while Ratio controls determine how aggressively peaks are reduced. Dial in different behaviors for low-end punch, midrange presence, and high-end sparkle.
Smooth Mode
Enable Smooth for a more transparent, mastering-friendly compression character. This switches from peak detection to RMS averaging and applies soft-knee compression curves, resulting in gentler gain reduction that's ideal for mix bus duties or when you want the OTT vibe without the aggression.
Sidechain High-Pass (SC HP)
The SC HP control filters low frequencies from the compressor's detection circuit (0–200 Hz). This prevents sub-bass content from triggering excessive gain reduction, eliminating unwanted pumping while maintaining tight low-end control.
Smart Clip 0dB Limiting
Enable Smart Clip to prevent output from exceeding digital full-scale. A soft-clipper followed by a hard limiter ensures clean peaks without harsh digital overs—perfect for pushing levels while maintaining headroom.
Phase-Aligned Mix Control
The Mix knob provides true parallel compression with proper phase alignment. Unlike simple dry/wet blends, the mix is applied per-band inside the compression algorithm, ensuring the dry and wet signals remain perfectly phase-coherent at all settings.
24dB/Octave Crossovers
Linkwitz-Riley filters split your signal into three bands with steep 24dB/octave slopes, ensuring clean separation between low, mid, and high frequencies without phase issues at the crossover points.
