The DL4 MkII includes everything in the original DL4 Delay Modeler, while introducing 15 new MkII delays drawn from our HX family of amp and effects processors and both 4-Switch and 1-Switch loopers with up to 240 seconds of record time (expandable to several hours using an optional microSD card). There's also an XLR microphone input, MIDI In and Out/Thru connectors, heavy duty footswitches, three bypass options, and a jack for connecting an optional expression pedal or two additional footswitches. The DL4 MkII is also smaller and lighter than the original, making it an even more appealing choice for modern musicians.
The DL4 MkII is constructed from cast aluminum to withstand the rigors of performance.
Control Layout
DL4 MkII utilizes the same layout of knobs and footswitches as the original. Pressing the Legacy button converts DL4 MkII into a DL4.
Delay
There are 30 delays total: 15 new MkII delays drawn from the HX family of amp and effects processors, 14 original DL4 delays, and Echo Platter, taken from the rackmount Echo Pro.
Looping
The 4-Switch Classic Looper and the 1-Switch Looper operate in either mono or stereo and may be positioned before or after other effects.
Looping Time/Micro SD
Onboard memory provides up to 240 seconds of recording time, expandable to several hours using an optional microSD card, which also enables a loop to be stored in memory.
XLR Microphone Input
Connect a dynamic microphone to the XLR input for vocal (or acoustic instrument) processing and looping, and adjust the gain using the Trim control.
MIDI
MIDI In and Out/Thru DIN connectors enable the DL4 MkII to receive continuous controller, program change, and other MIDI messages from external sources.
BYPASS
Bypass options include buffered, DSP, and true bypass. Buffered bypass and true bypass avoid A/D/A conversion by routing analog signals directly from the input(s) to the output(s).
Expression Pedal
Connect an optional expression pedal (automatically assigned to relevant effects parameters), two assignable external footswitches, or one of each.
External Switches
Connect up to two assignable external footswitches, an expression pedal, or one of each.
DC Power
DL4 MkII may be powered using the included 9V DC center negative 500mA power supply or most third-party power supplies.
Footswitches A, B, And C
The footswitches select presets A, B, and C. When the Looper is active, they select the Record/Overdub, Play/Stop, and Play Once functions.
Model Selector
Selects the delay or reverb type or the Classic Looper.
ALT/Legacy Button
Toggles between the MkII and Legacy delays. When pressed and held it accesses the alternate functionality of the knobs.
Time/SUBDIV
Adjusts the delay time.
Repeats
Adjusts the delay repeats from one to infinite.
Tweak
Assigned to specific parameters based on which delay type is selected.
Tweez
Assigned to specific parameters based on which delay type is selected.
MIX
Adjusts the blend between the dry and effected signal.
Tap Footswitch
Tap several times to sync the delay time with your performance (the red LED flashes at the current rate). When using the Looper, Tap selects the half-speed and reverse functions.
Exp Pedal – FS 5/6
Connect an optional expression pedal to control preassigned parameters that differ for each delay type. Use a "Y" cable to connect both an expression pedal and a footswitch, or two footswitches.
Mic Level Knob
Adjusts the input gain of the XLR Mic Input.
MIC Input
Plug your dynamic microphone into this XLR input.
Input L/MONO, Right
Connect stereo instruments or pedals to these inputs. Connect mono instruments or pedals to the L/Mono input.
Output L/MONO, Right
Connect stereo instruments or pedals to these outputs. Connect mono instruments or pedals to the L/Mono output.
MIDI IN, OUT/THRU
These connectors enable the DL4 MkII to receive continuous controller, program change, MIDI Clock, and other MIDI messages.
MicroSD
Inserting a microSD card into this slot automatically enables the Looper to access the card memory rather than internal memory, resulting in increased recording time (determined by the capacity of the card) and the ability to store the current loop.
USB C
Connect your computer to perform firmware updates using the free Line 6 Updater app, and to use your MIDI software to select presets and control various parameters, tempo, and more.
DC IN
Connect the included 9V DC center negative 500mA power supply.
