There are also 24 HX-quality effects spanning four effects categories. Additional features include sturdy construction, a Tap/Tuner button, an XLR line output, an effects loop, a Power Amp input for using Catalyst CX as a powered speaker, MIDI functionality, a 2-channel USB recording interface, and power output options. The free Catalyst Edit app for desktop and mobile devices provides deep editing capabilities. Add an optional LFS2 footswitch for even more flexibility, and an optional cover to protect your combo.

Traditional Controls Plus
Catalyst CX amps feature familiar Volume, Gain, Tone, and Reverb controls—with numerous effects and other options available just “under the hood.”
Dedicated Boost
Each Amp Voicing is matched with an optimal Boost type. Use the Boost control to adjust the amount, and the Boost button to switch the circuit in and out.
Onboard Effects
Select up to two of 24 Reverb, Delay, Modulation, and Pitch effects derived from Helix.
Tempo/Tuner
Tap in the tempo when using time-based effects such as delay and tremolo. Press and momentarily hold the button to access the chromatic tuner.
Optional Footswitch
Connect an optional LFS2 footswitch to toggle between channels and turn effects on and off remotely. The roadworthy metal LFS2 comes with a cable.
Professional Connectivity
Connect Catalyst CX to professional P.A. or recording devices using the XLR line output (with Ground Lift switch).
Effects Loop
Insert external effects and other devices into your signal chain using the Effects Loop.
Power AMP IN
Use Catalyst CX as a powered speaker by bypassing the preamp. Perfect for use with amp modelers and simulators.
Output Power
Provides half power, 0.5 watts, and speaker Mute options for reduced volume with minimal tone variation.
USB
Use this to connect to the Catalyst Edit app (Mac, PC, iOS, Android) and to the onboard audio interface, which provides 4 channels (4in/4 out) at 24-bit, 44.1kHz or 48kHz.
MIDI
Catalyst 100 receives Program Change (channel/preset selection) and Continuous Controller messages via 5-pin DIN.
Channel Select
Two channels may be configured individually and their settings saved. Press the CH A or CH B button to select a channel. Press the Manual button to enter Manual mode, which is independent of the two channels, and use the controls as you would on a traditional amp.
Guitar Input
Plug your guitar in here.
Amp Selector & Led Ring
There are two Amp Groups, each comprising six Line 6 Amp Voicings—and pressing the CH A and CH B buttons simultaneously switches between them. Turn the Selector to load an Amp Voicing within the currently selected Group.
Boost Switch & Knob
Press the button to enable/disable the Boost feature. Use the Boost knob to adjust the boost level.
Gain
Increases overdrive, distortion, and level.
Bass, MID, Treble
These controls operate just like those on a traditional amp. Settings are saved with individual presets, or apply globally when in Manual mode.
Presence
Boosts specific upper-midrange and treble frequencies to make your tone more pronounced and “present.”
CH Vol
Controls the preset's channel volume.
Effect Controls
Press the buttons to engage either or both of the effects. Use the Effect 1 and Effect 2 knobs to increase the amount of effect added to your tone. Various Delay, Modulation, Pitch/Filter, and Reverb effects may be assigned to these controls.
Tap/Tuner Button
Tap in time with the music to set the tempo of delay and modulation effects. Press and hold to engage the Tuner.
Master Volume
Controls the overall volume of the amplifier and also the headphone volume.
Power Switch
Turns the amplifier on and off.
AUX IN
An auxiliary audio input for connecting external audio sources directly (unprocessed) to the amplifier’s power amplifier and speakers.
Output Power
Controls the overall power amp output. There are four options: Mute (for recording/headphone use), ½ watt (0.5 watts), 50% (half power), and 100% (full power).
USB-B Port
Connect a desktop or mobile device to manage/edit presets, update firmware, or play and record audio. Provides 4-channel audio at 24-bit depth and 44.1kHz or 48kHz sample rates.
Footswitch
Connect an optional Line 6 LFS2 dual footswitch here to toggle between Channels A and B, and to switch Effect 1 on and off. The footswitches may also be reassigned to other functions using Catalyst Edit.
Phones
Connect headphones here and use the Master volume control to adjust the level. The amplifier’s power amp and speakers are muted when headphones are connected.
Mode Switch
Controls the function of the FX Loop Return jack. Toggle to the left to engage the FX Loop. Toggle to the right to engage the Power Amp In.
GND-LIFT
Ground-lift switch for the XLR Direct Out(s).
