Phil X Overdrive
Volume
Controls the overall output but is interactive with the gain control
Treble
Controls the top-end without losing clarity
Tilt EQ
Controls the overall EQ of the boost. Turn clockwise and it reduces the bottom end and increases the top end. Turn counterclockwise and it reduces the top end and increases the bottom end. Also works when cascaded with the Overdrive side.
Boost Switch
The foot switch engages and disengages the boost effect.
Drive Switch
The footswitch engages and disengages the overdrive effect.
Gain
Controls the amount of gain and is interactive with the volume control
Bass
Controls the bottom end and lives in the lower frequency of the guitar.
Level
Controls the output level for the boost. Can be cascaded with the drive side for more gain, volume, and sustain.
The PXO was created as a live or studio tool. When we sent Phil the overdrive sample he found that it saved him in backline situations and provided him a drive that plays well with others.
The PXO is an overdrive/boost where you can select pre or post giving you variety in how you want to boost, EQ, and overdrive. We have provided standard controls on the overdrive side such as Volume/Gain/Overdrive and EQ but on the boost side you have a separate Tilt EQ that allows you to EQ with simplicity.
You can experiment by cascading in a pre or post-situation and experiment from there. The PXO has a lush, thick feel to the bottom end and a smooth top end that begs you to dig into the note.
Overdrive Section
Volume
It may sound simple but output is a key feature to getting your drive set properly. Gain and feel are all associated with the gain structure, how much volume from the pedal hits the front of the amp, how much initial gain the pedal provides, does it pairs well with the amp in terms of EQ. We always advise you to set your amp to where it starts to feel better than it sounds (hair) and then add a touch of OD. You can then feather in more or less gain to taste.
Treble
The treble control simply controls the top end of the overdrive but never loses clarity
Bass
The Bass control allows you to increase or decrease the bottom end.
Gain
The Gain control increases or decreases the overall gain but is interactive with the volume control.

Tilt EQ
The tilt EQ is a simple way to achieve robust Qing. Turn the knob clockwise and you will increase treble but reduce bass. Turn the knob counterclockwise and you will increase the bass but reduce the treble. The brilliant thing about a tilt EQ is that it never loses clarity. When cascading the Boost and Overdrive you can get very creative with the separate bass and treble controls from the drive side and the Tilt EQ from the boost side. If you get your drive side EQ balanced the way you like it you can then tailor the overall feel with the Tilt EQ.
Level
The Level control controls the output volume of the boost and can be used to slam the front end of the pedal or your amp depending on if it is post or pre
