Multiple Dynamic Levels

• Each drum and cymbal was sampled at a number of dynamic levels to ensure the instrument’s fullest dynamic range when played back. Handy Drums Studio Standard contains up to 10 real recorded dynamic levels.

Round Robin

• Up to 13 samples per dynamic level
• Has it ever happened that you programmed a drum beat but it sounds exactly like that, For example, a human ear can intuitively tell the difference between the same snare sample repeated over and over again and a real drummer playing it. When a drummer strikes a drum, each sub-sequential stroke is ever so slightly different from the one before, no matter how consistently they are played.
• To solve this, we sampled each drum and cymbal numerous times at every dynamic level. Then during playback, no sample is repeated sequentially, but a different sample is triggered.

24bit Samples

• All Handy Drums samples are recorded in 24bit wav file format for the best resolution and sound quality.

• To achieve larger-than-life yet completely natural-sounding drums, every step of the sampling process is critical. Starting with the drum and skin selection and tuning, room and mic selection and placement, the instrument goes through a whole process before even a single note gets played.

Mixer

• While the Handy Drums come naturally pre-leveled between components, you still have an option to tweak and automate individual drum components to suit your mix. More kick or snare. No problem.

Adjustable Drum Mapping

• Handy Drums conform to GM drum mapping wherever possible. Drop-in any standard midi drum loop onto your DAW timeline to hear instant results. And if needed, it’s so easy to match the mapping of Handy Drums to any custom midi drum loop.

Multiple Outputs

• Use your favorite compressor, reverb, EQ, tape simulator, or other plugin effects to further manipulate Handy Drums’ individual components. Output each drum components to any of the available eight stereo subgroups and independently process them.

Variable Hi-Hats

• An acoustic hi-hat is a complex instrument in its own right. Handy Drums’s variable hi-hats utilize the full range of sampled hats from tightly closed to closed, 25% open, 50% open, 75% open, and 100% open, for both tip and edge sounds.
• Despite these 12 types of articulations, multiple dynamic ranges, and round robins, you can seamlessly switch from one to another using only TWO notes and a CC4 controller.

Adjustable Cc4 Curve (Variable Hats Foot Controller)

• For drummers who plan to use Handy Drums with MIDI triggers or an electronic kit, you can adjust your hi-hat foot controller curve. The curve is particularly beneficial for drum modules that do not output the full value range from 1-127.

Full Percussion Section

• A fantastic bonus is that all Handy Drums instruments contain the following percussion elements: handclaps, fingersnaps, tambourine, cowbell, shaker, triangle, and metronome sounds.
• The Studio Standard goes several steps further to include an entire percussion section, covering the full GM mapping range.
• They are provided with their own dedicated mixer tab for greater mix flexibility.

Audition Buttons

• Click on the component icons to quickly preview their sounds. Note that they will play at random velocities so feel free to click a few times to get a better preview of the samples contained.

Resizable GUI

• No need to squint to see the controls or aim too carefully with the mouse. Make the high-definition interface as large or as small as you need to suit your computer monitor best.

• Sometimes as producers or sound mixers, we are given drum recordings of substandard quality, so to save the mix, drum replacement comes to the rescue.
• Handy Drums make an ideal drum replacement contender. If your DAW can extract transients from an audio recording, it is a simple job to create a MIDI track from it and connect it to Handy Drums instrument. Instant punch and presence.
• Alternatively, you can use a dedicated drum replacement tool such as appTrigga3.
