The Kurzweil PC3LE6 Video Featuring Nick Rolfe

by ghostdad on December 9, 2010

In our latest feature for Winksound we enlisted the help of singer, songwriter, and key player Nick Rolfe to demonstrate Kurzweil’s new line of full featured workstations. Kurzweil is looking to recapture their claim on the professional production work station market and has revamped their PC3 series with the LE6. Nick made quick work of the program and song modes as you can see in the video above.

In addition to the programs included on the PC3LE6 each sound can be tweaked via the real time controllers on board and parameter feedback is shown via the on board LED screen. You can create your own programs with sounds split in up to 16 separate zones. This is possible via Kurqweil’s “Setup Mode,” where each zone can be set to any sound or send MIDI to different external MIDI channels. Being able to customize the sound and midi setup this closely is part of what keeps touring and stage musicians coming back to Kurzweil’s workstations. You can arpeggiate sounds trigger up to 16 different “riffs,” embeded in your setup via the keys or drum pads.

The effects section on this board offers over 500 complex effect chains, with everything from concert halls to tape echo to distortions and compressors, with tons of parameters that can also be controlled in real time. it also has a seperate organ tonewheel simulator under the hood. The LE’s knobs then provide drawbar control and modwheel controls distortion drive. Some impressive features to add to an already feature rich workstation.

Thanks again to Nick for hanging out and showing us what he was able to come up with in a short time jamming on the PC3LE6.
