Good for novice/beginning recording enthusiasts.

The M-Audio Fast Track Pro is a great piece of gear for beginning project studios, audio enthusiasts, instrumentalists, or gamers who want a good sound card for their system.Rating
Like any system, the FTP takes a little tweaking to find the best configuration for your particular system, but setup is relatively painless out of the box.
The unit has a couple of decent preamps that get the job done-- they make your signal louder, but if you\'re going for professional quality, don\'t expect much. The gain knobs don\'t allow for a lot of play, the pot will usually need to be turned above 75% to acquire an acceptable level of sound. Even then, it\'s easy to clip, which can be uber frustrating.
The FTP has a good amount of outputs given the price-range (ie. 1/2 Out and 3/4 Out). RCA and 1/4\" output connections allow for more hardware configurations.
One thing to warn about is, there is a chance this unit could be a bit glitchy on Windows 7 computers, but works great with Windows XP.
I\'ve had the unit for 5 years and it\'s worked well for what I\'ve been doing, but it\'s definitely time to upgrade since I\'m finally building a studio at home. (Posted on 3/24/11)
