Product Description for the Crown XTi-4000 Stereo Power Amp

he XTi 4000 from Crown Audio is a lightweight and rugged power amplifier designed for portable PA applications. It offers highly accurate sound reproduction with very low distortion, perfect for music or voice playback. It has a switch-mode universal power supply so it can be used anywhere. It handles a wide range of speaker impedances and outputs for a high degree of system compatibility.

The XTi 4000 offers two 3-pin XLR input jacks, as well as two XLR male link/out jacks, two Neutrik Speakon output connectors, and two binding post outputs in parallel with the Speakon connectors. Internal protection circuitry protects against damage from short circuits, overheating, overloads, and more. The XTi 4000 also offers digital signal processing with EQ, crossover filters, delay, speaker presets, and a subharmonic synthesizer. A front-panel LCD displays information and makes interfacing with the amplifier an easy task.

Mobile Sound in Puerto Rico

In Puerto Rico they do mobile live sound a little different. Like the flat bed of a daully different! We currently service three different mobile sound companies that are literally on wheels. The speakers are often custom builds but they power everything with Crown XTI amplifiers which are absolute workhorses. Many of these rigs are on hydraulic lifts that send them high above the parade, block party, or political rally they're commissioned for. I purchased 3 CROWN XTis from PROAUDIOSTAR - a pair of XTi4000\'s to run my Yorkville LS2104 21-inch subs in Bridged/Mono (3,400 w each) and an XTi6000 to run my Yorkville U215 mid-highs in stereo (2,200 w per side). I was advised that the \"tone\" of the XTis would be far superior to other amps used generally by bands playing in the clubs here in the city (Audiopro, Peavey, Behringer, etc.). They ABSOLUTELY do! Plus, I am running my FOH EQs and channel strips on my A&H GL2800 console flatter than any other gear I have ever used in the past. They are powerful and very clean. Plus, no heavy transformers make for extremely light amps @ 18 lbs for the XTi4000s and 24 lbs for the XTi6000.

HARMAN software BAND Manager (download for free) allows you to set up and save various crossover, limiting, etc. settings inside the amp using a laptop. Lastly........here is the secret....you can run a very powerful PA inside your HOUSE! I at times set up my entire PA (approx. 11,000 w) + four QSC K12s (1,000 watts each) in my dining room with my flat screen, laptop, and handful of lamps - on ONE CIRCUIT!! This is great for the wedding and small legion, club dates with questionable power. The CROWN specs say at idle and with a 4 ohm load - the XTi 4000 draws 0.7 amps and at clipping (1/8 power) draws only 9.8 amps. The XTi6000 draws about 15.3 amps at 4 Ohm load at 1/8th power/clipping (they do not show the idle amperage draw). While not at clipping, I can run my PA VERY LOUD and not pop a fuse.

Guys - spend the $$ and buy these amps. Your old ones make great coffee tables or boat anchors!! (Posted on 9/11/10)
