Product Description for the DigiDesign Eleven Rack

Eleven Rack is a revolutionary new guitar recording and effects processing system designed to eliminate the challenges guitarists have faced in the studio and on stage. Say goodbye to the lackluster guitar amp “models” of yesteryear: Eleven Rack utilizes a unique tone cloning design and one-of-a-kind, custom-designed True-Z input to re-create the experience of playing through a full guitar rig. By combining studio-standard Pro Tools® software with a DSP-accelerated high-resolution interface, Eleven Rack puts professional recording into the hands of every guitar player. Whether you’re tracking in the studio or playing on stage, Eleven Rack delivers fresh, mind-blowing, hyper-realistic guitar amp and effects tones that will inspire your best performances.

Features

Eleven Rack combines hyper-realistic guitar amp and effects tones with a dual-DSP-powered interface and studio-standard Pro Tools LE software to create the ultimate recording solution for guitar players.

Introducing True-Z
Among guitar tonehounds, it’s a well-known fact that input impedance — the electronic resistance found in the input circuit of the amp or effect you’re plugged in to — has a huge impact on your guitar tone. We realized that re-creating this electronic relationship was critical in nailing the sound and feel of our emulations. Others have tried to fake this with signal processing but we weren’t satisfied with a one-size-fits-all-approach. Each guitar reacts uniquely with each amp or effect — so we had to come up with a true analog solution that allows your guitar to interact realistically with our amp and effect re-creations.

That’s why we developed True-Z — a unique analog input circuit that replicates the input impedance of classic stompbox pedals and guitar amps, resulting in amazingly realistic sounds. It’s almost as if the True-Z input on Eleven Rack morphs into the 1/4" input jack of whatever classic stompbox or amplifier you are using. When you plug into Eleven Rack, you get the same response — and same great tone — as when plugging in to a vintage stompbox or guitar amp. You can also manually control the impedance of the True-Z input and set it to a value that suits your playing best.

PERFECT FOR GUITARRIST
Review by SGPROGDUCTIONS

Hi folks,

I bought this marble last Tuesday from the guys at Proaudiostar (I bought it online and their service was excellent!)

I\'ve only tried the 11R as a standalone and I have to say it\'s a blast!!! Very versatile, realistic tube-amp sounds ...

2 banks of presets: more than 150 as defalut sounds and the same sounds that the user can change in order to obtain the dreamt tone in just few steps.

I love the True Z input! It\'s just perfect for guitarrists!

Lots of I/O, although mainly addressed at guitar player ... anyway you can connect a bass and it\'ll sound great.

I\'m studying the Pro Tools manual \'cos I\'ve worked with Sonar and Cubase, but it\'s ok, it\'s a great challenge ad seems not to be difficult.

To sum up, if you are a guitar player and you are looking for a really good interface with PRO sound ... this is your choice.

And if you wanna buy it from a great store look at the prices in PROUDIOSTAR.COM. These guys have an extense catalogue of devices and their prices are just great!!! No matter where you live \'cos you can buy online the way I did (I\'m from Spain).

Grettings!!

Just had to counter the previous review that was clearly not well informed, intelligent, or complete.

The Eleven is a godsend to many; and I\'ll tell you why. First off; as a stand alone effects processor (no amp, cab, mic sims, no PT interaction) it is fantastic. It\'s available effects are quite accurately modeled from real pedals and units; the only failings possibly being the Wahs sounding a bit thin; but then again a Wah is a sweepable eq that relies on resonant harmonic distortion for it\'s effect, and frankly it is understandable why this would not be perfect. The shining stars of the effects are the Reverbs and Delays; note that this unit uses the newly developed Convolution Reverb algorithims which are FAR superior to the previously available technique of simply using multiple delay effects. Convolution is a mathematical modeling of a physical environment and how sound waves act in such an environment. It just sounds beautiful and these algorithims have obsoleted the value of the top Eventide and even Lexicon processors that were once legendary (eclipse, etc.) for their Verbs.... The digital delay is a good all around delay effect, with tap tempo etc; although some folks would prefer more than one delay as an option, which is understandable.... however, the simulated TAPE delay is out of this world good.... I have used several vintage BOSS/Roland tape delays of varying quality, and this will achieve what one always hopes to achieve from such a unit without the need for tape replacement or a failing piece of bulky non stage friendly hardware...

As for the amp/cab/mic sims... I really do love them, although I don\'t use them in a live or recording setup unless I am doing so as an \"effect\" in addition to my tube amps, real mics, and real cabinets. What I do use them for is writing. I can dial in nearly any amp sound I need quite accurately; and I can use this to have a good feel to my playng and writing when not in the studio or around my gear. I write many mornings using just my Eleven and my In-ears in the rack I tote back and forth from my studio. When I go in to record, I save of a second patch (very simple interface for doing this) without the sims engaged, find my sound with my amps etc.; and record away..... even more convenient is that when I do write/record at home I can record a stereo wet signal and a mono dry signal that I can then replay at the studio to get my amp settings perfect, sometimes using that at the final product.... this is all recorded at 24bit 96khz with the same D/A converters as the Digi003 and if I use the Mic input for my classical the same Preamp as a Digi003. If that isn\'t good enough, the Spidif/AES-EBU digital I/O and the Balanced in will allow for you to use your favorite A/D converters or Preamp to record.

This is a great product, and other than wanting multiple delays in a chain or a slightly beefer wah effect there is little that can be complained about it; particularly when combined with a Behringer FCB-1010 with the Uno mod (google this). I may add a high end processor to put in the Eleven\'s loop one day, perhaps an AxeFX; but the Eleven will definitely remain the heart and soul of my chain for a very long time.

The High-Z input makes it such that even long time Axe-FX afficianados (read the Axe-FX message board) tout the playability and feel of the Eleven over the Axe-FX even if they prefer the Axe-FX\'s effects and community update-able architecture. And this is at a FRACTION of the cost.

@zak the \"not good\" reviewer. nothing else does what this does; period; the effects are superior

@proaudiostar.... cut me a deal on the b-stock unit you have in plz for this awesome review! I keed, I keed.... sorta... :) (Posted on 12/28/10)
