Casio PX-130 Privia Digital Piano
Product Description for the Casio PX-130 Privia Digital Piano
128 Note Polyphony
Polyphony determines how many notes your digital instrument can produce at one time. When you play a digital piano with limited polyphonic ability, you'll see why high polyphony matters: play more notes than the keyboard's processors can handle and some notes will be cut off or not sound at all. To avoid this problem, the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano is capable of 128 note polyphony. In other words, the Casio PX-130 Privia can produce more notes than there are keys on its keyboard, so inadvertently cut-off and muted sounds will never be a problem. A real acoustic piano doesn't have polyphonic limitations, and for all practical intents and purposes, neither does the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano.
Tri-element AIF Sound Source / Acoustic Resonance System
This is actually two features in one. "Tri-Element" refers to the Privia's stereo piano sampling technique. Three different samples were taken for each note on the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano, so that the tone changes as you strike the velocity-sensitive keys harder or softer. "AIF" stands for Acoustic and Intelligent Filtering, a sophisticated programming algorithm that recreates the reverberations of a grand piano's resonating chamber in the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano. The massive size of a grand piano is what gives the instrument its uniquely impressive tone, and the AIF captures every nuance of a sonic impulse being magnified and sounded by a perfectly tuned acoustic chamber. These processes combine to make the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano as responsive an instrument as any real piano, reacting instantly to your every musical expression. Paired with an optional piano-style sustain pedal, the Privia's Acoustic Resonance System adds another layer of realism to the digital piano's sound. While some digital pianos have a damper sound that merely mutes the notes, the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano mimics what happens in a real piano, i.e., the resonant characteristics of the modeled acoustic chamber shift. It's a subtle effect, yet it contributes tremendously to the uncannily organic nature of the piano, making the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano more satisfying to play, and listen to, than other digital pianos.
Tri-Sensor 88-note Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard
For authentic performances, the way an instrument feels is every bit as important as how it sounds. The Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano features a full 88-keys-worth of Casio's new Tri-Sensor Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard. A piano's mechanics consist of a complex system of levers, joints, hammers, and strings, and the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano's Scaled Hammer Action keys recreate an acoustic piano keyboard's organic playing resistance for a satisfying feel. "Scaled" means that this resistance gets subtly heavier as you move towards the bass-end of the keyboard--just like on a real piano (hammers hitting heavier-gauged strings result in heavier-feeling keys). The newly redesigned Tri-Sensor translates this organic feel into sonic performance so authentic and expressive, only a real piano compares.
All these sounds are recreated in full, detailed fidelity thanks to the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano's integrated, 2-way bass reflex speaker system. These powerful, yet musical speakers will have you feeling as well as hearing the impact of the lavish Privia grand piano sound.
Benefits For Teachers And Students: The Casio PX-130 Privia Digital Piano as a Learning Tool
The Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano sports a few nifty features that make it an excellent instrument for instruction. In particular, the "Duet Mode" is an invaluable learning tool. By splitting the keyboard down the middle, the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano allows two people to play on different sides of the piano, but in the same note-range. It's like having two pianos right next to one another! The Casio PX-130 Privia also features two headphone outputs for teacher and student, and optional "lock" mode shuts off the non-key controls, protecting the piano from operator error. No student should learn without a metronome, and the Casio PX-130 PX-130 digital piano has one on board. You can dial in the tempo of any piece of music you want to play, and solidify your sense of time as you practice. In addition, there are 60 different songs in the integrated Music Library, as well as 20 different rhythm patterns to play along with; don't just practice playing in time, practice playing with "feel."
Optional CS67 Stand Provides Support, Good Looks
For the complete Privia package, add the handsome CS-67 stand, made especially for the Casio PX-130. Not only does it look good in any setting, but the CS-67 is a far more stable stand than any cross-style support you'd get from a third party manufacturer.
With all these advanced features, it's easy to see how the Casio PX-130 Privia digital piano would appeal to touring pianists, private instructors, piano students, church musicians or anyone else who loves the sound of the grand piano but doesn't have the spare concert hall to in which to store it.
The new Casio Privia PX-130 redefines the digital piano category with unprecedented sound quality and performance in a sleek package that is supremely portable. The Casio Privia PX-130 features all new grand piano samples and a new Tri-Sensor 88 note scaled hammer action keyboard.
Realism, Expression and Dynamics
The grand piano sounds in the PX-130 delivers an unprecedented level of realism and expression. Four dynamic layers of stereo piano samples are integrated with Casio's proprietary Linear Morphing System, resulting in a grand piano sound with seamless transitions and a superior dynamic range. For added realism, the PX-130 simulates the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal using Acoustic Resonance DSP. The PX-130 also has 128 note polyphony, enough horsepower for the most demanding musical passages and the ability to layer sounds and use the damper pedal without worry of dropped notes. The result is a grand piano experience that is unmatched at any price.

Keyboardists know that one of the keys to quality practice and playing is comfort. Designed to fit both the PX-130 and PX330 keyboards, Casio's CS67 keyboard stand is just the tool to get your keyboard to the right height for playing. Don't just use any old desk or surface, the dark wood grain of the CS67 is a perfect compliment to the look of these keyboards. Novice players will have an easier time learning their scales and modes when your keyboard is set to an effective playing height.

All that I was looking for
Review by Stevie Wonder Bread -
I used to own a PX-330, the PX-130 has all of the same functions without all of the "throw-away" tones of the 330. The tones that the 130 has are more than acceptable, and the weighted keys feel real enough to me.Rating
I'm a novice player with a lot to learn. I bought this digital piano for these reasons: 1.Low Cost, 2.High Quality, 3. Excellent Grand Piano Sounds, 4.Weighted Keys, 5.Unlike A Real Piano, It Will Never Need To Be Tuned, 6. Portability
The ONLY negative about this digital piano are the speakers. At full volume they crackle a bit, but so did the 330. I've connected a powered, 2 speaker with sub woofer system, and it sounds great.
I bought the open box option for $399, and it arrived EXACTLY as the description said it would. I am VERY happy with the product AND with ProAudioStar, THANK YOU! (Posted on 8/5/12)
