First things first: I've never found these speakers at a better price. I got mine here over the holidays for $349 ea (versus $499 everywhere else). The icing on the cake was that the price left me the extra cash to get nice stands, too! The order process was smooth, and everything arrived on time without a hitch (via free ground shipping).
I've taken my as regards posting here, as i wanted a "time in the trenches" review, rather than "these are the best, because I just bought them and haven't used them for real yet!".
After experimenting with room placement, etc, what i'm hearing on the monitors translates incredibly well. I do have to use cans to tweak the sub-60hz levels (a limitation on virtually any speaker without a sub), but everything else works on a large number of systems, with perhaps the occasional minor headphone-centric sorts of tweaks (slight adjustments in panning, etc).
Imaging is fantastic. the 50% left/right points are just as "hard" as the phantom center.
Feedback from customers and other engineers has been that the tonal balance of the mixes is spot-on, and they sound great. I couldn't be happier with these (though I'd love the sub, too!), and they've very nearly already paid for themselves.
I've had similarly priced mackie hr624's (the original versions), and these are a real step up. They're in a completely different category, IMO. (Posted on 8/23/12)
