Antelope Audio Orion Studio Rev.2017

Orion Studio fits Thunderbolt and USB connectivity, 12 mic pres and our renowned clocking in just 1U rack space.

Since its release in 2015 Orion Studio has become one of the biggest stars in the Antelope Audio line of ThunderboltTM & USB audio interfaces. And now we made it even better. With 12 Class-A Mic Pres make it’s one and only piece of gear you’ll need to record a full band and do it like a pro. For 2017 Orion Studio got brand new AD converters, raising its dynamic range to an industry best 124 dB and features superior low latency performance. Now coming in a gorgeous carbon grey faceplate, Orion Studio has a ton of new features inside its powerful Control panel and FPGA engine.Just like Zen Tour and Goliath, Orion Studio features the full array of real-time FPGA powered vintage FX. This best-selling interface also includes Antelope’s traditionally stunning AD/DA conversion, powered by our very own, world-renowned 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) technology for jitter management.

Custom FPGA will allow you to create and stream multiple complex mixes and process audio with zero latency.Orion Studio’s secret weapon is the extremely powerful Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device. Its massive parallel processing capabilities are far ahead of DSP chips used in similar devices. Through smart algorithms, oversampling and custom-tweaked models, the FPGA provides the lowest latency possible, allowing you to create up to four independent, zero latency mixes. Those can be easily assigned to any output including the two separate headphone outs.

Enjoy the true sound of classic studio gear with Orion Studio’s real-time FPGA vintage FX.Orion Studio comes with full yet ever expanding list of Antelope Vintage FX models. With 5 new compressor models you can now open up to 32 compressors at once, without losing any of your 40 EQ instances. This is a major advantage over DSP processing. All Antelope Audio FX can be used for real-time tracking, monitoring and are easily routed to work on a mix inside the DAW.Antelope Audio’s custom FPGA makes Orion Studio the #1 audio interface for professional guitarists by being the perfect platform for our integrated vintage and contemporary guitar amp & cab simulations. Developed in collaboration with Overloud they bring precision and audio realism to a whole new level, allowing artists to experiment with multiple speaker configurations, mic placement and EQ settings. Our innovative RealModel technology allows us to vividly rebuild the true sound and behavior of classic analog gear.

Orion Studio can work with any DAW on the market via Thunderbolt or USB.Orion Studio’s FPGA powered ThunderboltTM and custom USB guarantee the lowest sound latency on the market. The device’s massive parallel processing capabilities allow fast, simultaneous streaming of multiple audio channels and instant effects processing. Thanks to the variety of digital and analog I/O, combined with the flexible routing matrix the device is easily connectable to various outboard gear.Orion Studio offers: two pairs of monitoring outputs, 16 analog outs, 2 reamp outputs, plus 16 channels I/O via ADAT and 2 channels I/O on S/PDIF.

Rupert Neve Designs 5059 Satellite

The 5059 features 16 channels with individual level, pan, inserts, stereo-2 sends, and master texture controls, providing easy integration with outboard equipment, complete control for two separate stem mixes, and the ability to dial in analogue mojo in two modes. With the same sonic heritage as mixers used to create countless hit records, the 5059 Satellite Mixer imbues tracks with the legendary warmth and presence of a Rupert Neve design.

The Signature of Excellence

The most important element of the 5059 is its legendary sound. The keys to the sonic prowess of the 5059 are the custom transformers and true class-A topologies found within. The class-A topologies in the 5059 have been fine-tuned over a number of years to provide exceptional sonic performance and completely eliminate cross-over distortion. When combined with Mr. Rupert Neve’s transformer design and implementation, the 5059 achieves a remarkable purity, while also conveying the signature warmth and larger-than-life sound reminiscent of Rupert’s classic designs.

Making Connections

One drawback to mixing “in the box” is the inability to use high quality analogue outboard equipment. Channel inserts are provided in the 5059 to streamline interconnections with analogue outboard equipment and to allow for further expansions of the 5059’s capabilities. By connecting a second 5059 to the insert outputs of a 5059, the dual stereo outputs can be used as a way to add 4 auxes to each of the 16 channels.

From Clean to Colored and Everywhere in Between

Every mix demands its own treatment; continuously variable Texture controls with Silk and Silk+ modes allow the engineer to fine tune the harmonic ratio and tonality of each stereo send of the 5059, or leave each mix pristine. The Silk mode accentuates the transformer saturation in the high frequencies to add a “sparkle” to tracks. The Silk + mode accentuates the saturation of the low frequencies to add thickness and density to any source – especially useful for dry, somewhat anemic mixes. Unlike EQ, the texture control saturates the output transformers, and adds musical harmonics to the source material according to the amount of texture applied.

Stem It or Sum It

Aside from providing aux functionality with a second 5059 module, the dual stereo outputs of the 5059 are generally used for creating stem mixes. These stem mixes can be enhanced using the Silk / Texture controls on the 5059, then processed by buss compressors or other devices, and fed into inputs of another mixer or an ADC.

With 16 channels of Rupert Neve designed class-A magic and numerous tonal and routing options, the 5059 Satellite mixer will elevate your DAW-based studio’s sound and performance to new heights.

Mogami 8 Channel DB25-DB25 DSUB 5' Snake

All of MOGAMI 110W AES/EBU digital audio cables are designed with flexibility and handy configuration. Many variations are available from regular application type up to long distance application types, from single core up to 12-core types, internal wiring type, and interconnect application types. Strict tolerance control of impedance within ±5% up to ±10% at the maximum.

However, above suggested maximum applicable length is based on use with any device that meets AES standard requirement without equalizer. In the case of use with an equalizer, the maximum applicable length can be expanded up to 1.5 times longer than assured length above. We have also prepared CAD program to see the changes of eye-diagram and transmitted wave form at the receiving end for various working conditions. Since AES/EBU digital audio cable is low capacitance characteristics, it can result in high quality analog audio transmission in general especially for high frequency range.

Mogami 6' Microphone Cable

The Gold Series uses selected Mogami Neglex ""Studio Quad"" Oxygen Free Copper cable. This 4-conductor cable actually cancels noise caused by poor ground planes and high RF or electromagnetic fields. The ultra-low-noise spiral shield is the most densely wound available. All this engineering helps cure many of the problems encountered in a project or home studio, creating a much quieter recording environment with vastly improved Dynamic Range.

Virtually every major recording facility in the world is wired with Mogami cable. This means that just about any music you choose has been recorded using Mogami in the audio chain. The Mogami Gold Studio Microphone Cable is famous for unmatched accuracy, extremely low noise and remarkable flexibility. Top engineers rave about its amazing clarity and silent background. If accuracy in reproduction is your goal, this is the cable for you.
